Sightseeing sunny Vancouver

Granville island is a gorgeous little place, 10 min from where we live, with arts center, theaters, fruit market, handicrafts, Chris' tennis court and places, like this, to lounge by the water.

Fancy (and very comfy) "park benches" at the Olympic village

Canada Day

Very windy but still sunny.
We took the barbecue to our beach and spent the afternoon.

In the morning we had the last appointment at Pomegranate, our midwifery group. Mango has gained 1 kg since birth, now at 4130 g. A bit sentimental to "graduate" from Janice and Kat who have been great and important to us.

Seeing Amanda

Tonight Malin met up with Amanda for a girls' night. We both really needed to just talk and hang out. She introduced me to this lovely bagel bakery too close to our place and suggested we try a pastry called rugolah. Kind of like an Eastern European pastry mainly consisting of butter filled with apricots or cinnamon or chocolate...
Hanging out at our place.

With Morfar on the Mountain

View of Vancouver from Cypress Mountain
We tried to make it to a top but had to give up after hours of walking in snow, mud and branches.

Morfar visiting

Malin's dad and now Mango's morfar Sven is visiting from Sweden. He thought Mango was the cutest (of course...) but also loved Vancouver and realized big cities can be the place to live. Days with long walks along the seawalls, good restaurants, barbecue on the balcony, shopping... Morfar took a morning walk at 7.00, found a favourite cafe for latte and came back by the time we roll out of bed around 9.30...Who will now bring us breakfast buns and fresh fruit every morning?

Mango got a babysitter as a present which he really seems to like. Even though he doesn't want to sit alone for long this place makes him do all kinds of happy noises as he rocks himself.

Dinner at Hapa Isakaya, Japanese "pubfood", a very lively restaurant around the corner from where we live. Food was good but maybe not so Japanese?

Mango slept in the corner, a new way of doing it as he usually prefers the sling. But any place is a good place (especially for the parents that are still a bit nervous whether he will stay asleep throughout the outings).
